Your stories deserve careful handling.

Auranite collects the information needed to operate accounts, publish approved reports, support discussion, and keep the archive secure.

• Account information, including your username, display name, email address, password hash, email verification status, and optional profile details such as an avatar or location.
• Contributions, including reports, descriptions, event dates, locations or coordinates, visibility choices, comments, uploaded media, and related metadata.
• Technical, advertising, and security information, including session or advertising cookies, IP addresses and user agents where recorded, ad interactions, login attempts, and moderation or security logs.

Information is used to provide accounts, maps, reporting, comments, email verification, and essential service messages. It also supports moderation, abuse prevention, account security, source corrections, and improvements to the archive.

Auranite does not use your email address as part of your public profile.

Approved reports, comments, uploaded media, and the display name or username attached to them may be visible to anyone. Event locations may appear as exact, rounded, or fuzzed map positions according to the available privacy controls and moderation decisions.

Do not include private contact details, home addresses, or other sensitive personal information in a public report or comment. Auranite may edit or remove sensitive details when reviewing content.

Auranite uses essential cookies for signed-in sessions, security, and form protection. Disabling these cookies may prevent account features from working correctly.

Public maps may load resources from OpenStreetMap and related map infrastructure. Those providers may receive standard request information, such as your IP address, browser details, and the requested map tiles, under their own policies.

Auranite uses Google AdSense to deliver and measure advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies and receive device, browser, approximate location, and ad-interaction information. Advertising may be personalized where permitted and according to your available consent and Google account settings.

Auranite does not directly sell account records or community contributions for payment. Information may be shared through your public contributions, with infrastructure providers that help operate the service, with Google and its advertising partners as described above, or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the service, or address a safety or security issue.

Account information, contributions, moderation records, and security logs are retained for as long as reasonably needed to operate and protect the archive. Historical contributions may need additional review before removal because they can be connected to public discussions, source records, and moderation decisions.

You may contact Auranite to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Some records may be retained where required for security, legal obligations, or archive integrity, and removal from backups or logs may take additional time.

Auranite uses reasonable technical and administrative safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password and protect access to your email account.

Auranite is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact Auranite so the situation can be reviewed.
