Voronezh UFO Incident (1989)
The Story
Witness Narrative
On September 27, 1989, a group of children in Voronezh, then part of the Soviet Union, reported seeing unusual lights and an alleged craft in a city park. Soviet news agency TASS later publicized claims that a red spherical object had appeared, vanished, and returned, accompanied by reports of a strange humanoid figure and a robot-like being. The story drew international attention during the late Soviet glasnost era and became one of the most widely discussed UFO reports from Russia. Subsequent commentary questioned the reliability of the claims, noting the lack of verifiable physical evidence and the sensational nature of the media coverage. The Voronezh UFO Incident remains a notable historical case in global UFO folklore.
